After yet another year on the bike, I'm back in AUS after a nice relaxing break from riding and training. Back to the southern hemisphere for some relaxation and eventually to start some training again. I will also be making the most of this time to talk to whoever will listen to be about the great trips we are offering with www.cmitours.com
It was yet another great year or cycling, both on the racing domain with yet another season of Pro racing and in the cycling trips and training camps domain with the addition of a new and exciting Spring Classics trip with David McKenzie in April 2015. It we so well in fact that we have chosen to launch yet another David McKenzie trip in the form of the 2016 Vuelta that will be added to the Classics Trip. Needless to say our other Pyrenees, France, Custom etc etc trips have also been a great load of fun.
It's time to start thinking about the bike again. Very slow and gradual increase in work load. Sticking to a low intensity base training program for the first month. Followed up with a month at upper end endurance before the intervals get thrown in. Most of this will probably be done alone or with a select group of people, as the riding groups haven't changed in the 8 years I have been coming to Australia, they still ride like maniacs in totally urban areas, forgoing all concepts of training. The irony, most of the time they are red-lined and think they are going fast, which usually just leads to very erratic riding and a few crashed thrown in for good measure. It's a shame because I really get on well with most of the people here, and would love to be able to actually ride with them as they are great people... Oh well. C'est la vie.
AUS is still as stunning as ever. I have done a few little runs and will try and learn to swim somewhat correctly this year. We'll see how that goes!
Until next time.
Ciao.
