Back In Spain

By internal contributor Simeon Green

A situation came up that saw us heading for a last minute short trip to Spain.  Our destination was non Spain training camps a few years ago before moving them to Calpe further south for a slight change of scenery and some warmer weather.
other than the town of Tossa De Mar, a well know sea-side holiday town out of which we used to run early season

The good thing about our short trip was that I know the area well.  A couple of days of riding, sunshine, meeting some new people in the form of a bunch of heavily accented French Canadians who were very friendly, funny and great riding company.

It was really nice to return to some of the roads and hills I used to train on years ago, such as Santa Pillaia, and that oh so well known coastal road that runs from Tossa De Mar to Sant Feliu which is often used to film car commercials due to it's stunning scenery and twisty roads.  A few solid hours on my team edition Quick bike to further test out how the new machine handles was awesome.  Some true #CMILifestyle moments. :)

Girona, which is only a few dozen KMs away from Tossa is home to the highest concentration of Pro Cyclists in the world, but it was still a little surprising for me to run into Dan Craven as I was out on a training ride.  Although I have kept in touch with Dan i haven't actually scene him for a few year were we were racing together in Africa.  He was unmistakable in his cool looking Namibian National Champion's jersey emblazoned with Europecar... his long hair and big beard didn't exactly make him Mr Incognito either.

It was a great few days to get away, focus on some riding and hang out with new and fun people, a little bit of a Canada in Spain.
